What Do I Need to Know When Hiring a Presentation Venue in London?

The details of a great presentation are many and varied. The content has to be exciting and engagingly arranged, but the delivery also has to be confident and carefully rehearsed. The last thing you want, with a big presentation looming, is to have to worry about whether the venue itself will be suitable:

  • Microphones, projectors and audio equipment. It's useful to have a 'tech spec' of any equipment you'd like the venue to provide. Need a clip-on microphone? Or a projector with a remote control? Let them hear about it.

  • What room layout do you need? Generally, a presentation may want a theatre style arrangement of chairs, but you can also ask for a cabaret layout or classroom arrangement.

  • Is this an interactive presentation? If there's likely to be a point in the evening where you ask the audience questions, then you may want a portable microphone to be able to pass it around the crowd. If you have a demonstration planned, then perhaps a U-shaped style layout is appropriate.

How Can I Give A Top Presentation?

Like anything, practice makes perfect. However, there are always a few things you can do to help yourself out. Here are a few pointers for how to help things move smoothly:

  • Timing. The length of your presentation is important, but so too is the speed at which you speak. Time yourself talking and factor in a 10-15% grace period for any distractions or pauses.

  • Small notes. Maintaining eye contact with your audience displays confidence and engages the crowd. If you can memorise your presentation entirely – that's fantastic – but if such feats of memory aren't realistic, make sure you have small notes to hand which can be checked for reference.

  • Keep it varied. Another good way to capture your audience's attention and hold it is to mix things up occasionally. If you have some audio snippets or video to show the assembled crowd, that will mix well with your speaking and keep things interesting.

If you're still trying to tie down a few details of your presentation – audience size, perhaps, or location – then you might like to browse some other possibilities. Our lecture theatre venues in London and auditorium are also very suitable. If you're looking for something a bit more out of the ordinary, then our rooftop venues can be especially scenic when the weather is nice.
