This atmospheric basement space, once used for storing barrels and casks, now serves as one of our most sought-after private dining rooms, complete with exposed brick walls and original wooden beams that tell the story of our 1829 heritage. Ian Harper's magnificent mural graces the rear wall, depicting the Elizabethan almshouses that once stood on Woodbridge Street, commissioned by Thomas Sekforde himself, the great Elizabethan lawyer who gave our street its name. This classical artwork transforms what could be just another cellar into a space rich with local history and artistic significance. At the heart of the room sits our impressive ice tank, a working demonstration of the building's pioneering heating and cooling system. This unique feature not only showcases our commitment to sustainability but creates an intriguing conversation piece for your guests. The warm wooden tables and chairs we've chosen complement the rustic brick perfectly, creating an intimate setting that works equally well for corporate dinners or birthday celebrations. We can accommodate up to 30 guests for seated dining, with tables arranged to encourage conversation and connection. For cocktail receptions or standing events, the space opens up to welcome 60 people comfortably. The cellar's natural acoustics make it particularly popular for engagement parties and milestone birthdays, where the brick walls create just the right level of ambient sound.
