Take the curved staircase from our main dining room, and you'll discover Le Grand Salon Privé, our first-floor private dining space that captures all the warmth of a Parisian brasserie. Red leather banquettes line the walls beneath vintage wall sconces, their soft light reflecting off mirrored panels that make the room feel both intimate and grand. We've kept the original antique timber floors that tell their own story with every footstep, while round tables dressed in crisp white linens create distinct gathering spots throughout the room. The pewter-topped bar runs along one side, stocked with an impressive collection of spirits and wines, becoming a natural focal point where guests gather with cocktails before settling in for dinner. For seated occasions, we comfortably host 60 guests around banquet tables, or arrange the space cabaret-style for 40. Standing receptions flow beautifully here, with room for 80 guests to move between the bar, the banquettes, and the central dining area. We've found the room works particularly well for milestone birthdays where guests want both cocktail hour and a proper sit-down meal, or corporate celebrations that benefit from having their own dedicated bar service. Fresh flowers soften the rich wood tones, and we adjust the lighting throughout your event to match the mood, from bright and energetic during cocktail hour to something more atmospheric over dinner. Our events team coordinates closely with the kitchen below, timing each course to perfection whether you're hosting a wedding breakfast with our famous French pastries or an evening reception featuring canapés and champagne. The room sits just moments from Covent Garden tube station and The Royal Opera House, making it wonderfully accessible for guests coming from across London. Being separate from the main restaurant below means your celebration maintains its own energy and privacy whilst still enjoying the full Balthazar experience.
