Lecture Theatre 1 spans the width of our Chemistry Building, its 333 tiered seats rising in neat rows from the teaching wall to the back doors. We've hosted everything from annual company meetings to technical training sessions in this space, and the sight lines remain crystal clear from every seat. The teaching wall dominates the front, with its traditional chalkboards alongside modern projection capabilities. Our tech setup includes a built-in computer at the lectern, VGA and HDMI connectivity, plus a visualiser for displaying documents or demonstrations. The PA system carries voices clearly to the back row, controlled directly from the presenter's position. We manage all the technical aspects, so you can focus on your content rather than wrestling with equipment. Ground floor access makes arrivals straightforward, particularly for those using wheelchairs, with dedicated spaces available for both presenters and attendees. Our hearing loop system ensures everyone can participate fully. While the room lacks windows, the adjustable lighting lets you set the right atmosphere, whether you need full brightness for note-taking or dimmed conditions for presentations. The hard flooring handles heavy foot traffic well, practical when you're moving 300-plus people in and out efficiently. During breaks, the nearby east foyer provides space for refreshments or networking, though you'll need to arrange catering through our approved suppliers. We provide water as standard with every booking. Getting here involves either Clifton Down station from the city centre or Redland from the north. The university precinct can feel like a maze to newcomers, so we send detailed directions and have someone meet larger groups at reception. Our booking team knows the academic calendar inside out, finding availability that works around teaching commitments, particularly during holidays and weekends when the building is quieter.
