About GŎNG at The Shard
Fifty-two floors up in The Shard, we've created GŎNG Bar as Western Europe's highest hotel bar, where London spreads out beneath you in every direction. Our name comes from 'dougong' - those interlocking wooden brackets you see in traditional Chinese architecture - and we've woven this heritage throughout our space in subtle, sophisticated ways. We've designed two distinct spaces for different moods. Our cocktail bar buzzes with energy as our bartenders craft drinks from our signature collection, including the 'A Decade of Moments' menu. Each of these ten cocktails tells a story about significant events and figures from the past decade - we love watching guests discover the narratives behind each creation. Over in our Champagne bar, the atmosphere shifts to something more intimate, perfect for toasting special moments while the city lights twinkle below. Our kitchen sends out plates of fresh sushi and carefully selected bar snacks that pair beautifully with your drinks. We find guests often start with just cocktails but end up staying for hours, ordering dish after dish as they take in the views stretching from east to west to north across London. The space naturally draws people for sunset drinks - there's something magical about watching the sun dip behind the city while you're this high up. But we stay open late too, and the atmosphere transforms as darkness falls and London lights up. We host everything from birthday celebrations to corporate drinks receptions, though many of our guests simply come for an evening with friends where the setting does most of the talking.
