Walking into the Palm Court and Orangery feels like discovering a secret garden that happens to have a roof. The glass dome overhead catches you first, this magnificent Victorian structure that our maintenance team still curses about when cleaning, but guests can't stop photographing. During summer parties, we throw open the floor-to-ceiling doors and suddenly you're hosting 800 people across both the palm-filled interior and our terraces, with the Thames glinting in the distance. We've learned to work with the natural light here rather than against it. Morning product launches get this incredible golden hour effect around 8am, while evening galas see the dome lit up like a constellation above dinner tables. The palms aren't just decorative either, they're proper specimens that our head gardener fusses over, creating natural divisions between cocktail areas and the dance floor. The space holds 250 for a formal dinner, though we regularly push that to 800 for standing receptions when clients want to use the full flow between inside and out. Last month we had a tech company transform the entire area into different themed zones, each palm grove becoming its own mini environment. The week before, a fashion brand used the same layout for their runway show, models weaving between the trees. Getting here from Putney Bridge takes about twelve minutes on foot, and yes, people in heels manage it fine, we've checked. The combination of our Georgian architecture and this glass-roofed addition shouldn't work, but somehow it does.
