The Writing Room holds court on the ground floor of our Grade II*-listed Pavilion, where generations of cricket correspondents once penned their match reports by hand. Today, this beautifully proportioned space brings together 60 guests for banquet dining or 70 for drinks receptions, all beneath the watchful gaze of famous cricketing paintings that line the walls. That magnificent bay window draws everyone who enters. Natural daylight pours across the room, illuminating the deep green upholstery and polished round tables while offering uninterrupted views across the cricket grounds. When evening arrives, our original chandeliers cast a warm glow over the ornate ceiling moldings, creating an atmosphere that feels both grand and intimate. We've preserved the room's character while ensuring it works perfectly for modern celebrations. Fine china and crystal glassware dress each table, ready for anything from Christmas parties to wedding breakfasts. The high ceilings give even smaller gatherings a sense of occasion, while the careful proportions mean conversations flow naturally without echo or strain. Your guests will appreciate having exclusive use of the adjacent Bowlers' Bar and Old Library too, perfect for pre-dinner drinks or when you need extra space to mingle. The combination works particularly well for weddings, where ceremony and celebration can flow seamlessly between spaces. Getting here couldn't be simpler. St. John's Wood station sits just ten minutes away on foot through tree-lined residential streets, with plenty of buses stopping even closer. The Pavilion entrance leads you straight to us, no maze of corridors required.
